Cristina González is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Machine Learning for Biomedical Imaging (IML) at Helmholtz Munich. She received her Ph.D. at the Center for Research and Formation in Artificial Intelligence (CINFONIA) at Universidad de los Andes, under the supervision of Pablo Arbeláez. During her doctoral studies, she completed two research internships at Adobe Research. Her Ph.D. work focused on multi-modal representation learning to tackle the problem of open-ended visual recognition. Beyond this, she has contributed to instrument type segmentation for robot-assisted surgeries, pharmaceutical drug discovery, and automatic bone age assessment. Her main interests include multi-modal learning, medical image analysis, and foundation models.
